About our speaker . . .

EricOwenswebEric was born and reared in Rockford, IL. He has been married to Vanessa 25+ years and they have three daughters and one son in-law.

Eric served in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed in the first gulf war in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Eric graduated from the Memphis School of Preaching in 1994. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Amridge University.

Eric has preached for two congregations. He preached at the Henrietta Avenue church of Christ in Rockford, IL from 1994-1997. He has preached at the Avondale church of Christ in Decatur, GA since 1997 and has also served an elder there since 2009.

Eric is a frequent speaker for gospel meetings, lectureships, and retreats. He has also served as an instructor for the Georgia School of Preaching and Biblical Studies at the campus in Marietta, GA and presently teaches at the East Campus at Avondale.

Eric is the author of two books,
"So You Want to be Happy"
In the book, Eric makes the case that we all can be happy. We just have to know where to look to find it. So if you want to be happy, come willing to shed some old thoughts and develop a spiritual approach to lasting happiness. Happiness is not on under the sun, it is beyond the sun.
"So You Want to be Happy - TEENS"
Continuing the theme of happiness in his second book Eric turns his attention to teens and young adults. In the book Eric uses lessons he learned from the Marine Corps and weaves them into spiritual lessons termed "missions" for young soldiers of the Lord. You don't have to get old to learn where real happiness is, this book will help teens find God and happiness while they are young.

Marriage Enrichment

marriageenrichmentweb"Striving together to strengthen our marriages as we grow closer to God, built upon the foundation of His word."

With the realization that the home is the most influential place upon one's spiritual development, the mission of the Marriage Enrichment ministry of the Buford church of Christ is to provide avenues by which new marriages will be firmly grounded, good marriages will be strengthened, and troubled marriages will be saved. With Christ as our focus and example, our hope will always be to build stronger marriages, stronger homes.

Care Groups

CareGroupslogoCare Groups allow our members that live in a geographic area to support one another. Members make phone calls to fellow Care Group members to help when someone is sick, hospitalized, or bereaved. They provide food or transportation. They assist our members that are confined to home due to health.

Contact your Care Group Leader if you or another member of your group needs assistance.

To find out which care group you are in, please sign in with your Member ID and return to this page. If signed in, see the link in the box to the right on this page.

Monday Night for the Master

mnftm logo webMonday Night For The Master (MNFTM) meets every Monday night at 6:00pm in a Fellowship Hall classroom. Members come to send cards of encouragement to recent visitors, the sick, new members, for birthdays, and anniversaries, and thank you cards to those helping with different ministries.

All visitors, up to 15 miles from the church building, will get a phone call to setup a visit during this time. Cookies and popcorn are presented as a welcome. The visiting team spends 15-20 minutes to get to know our visitors better. If time permits or if enough volunteers, visits are made to our sick and elderly too. We welcome any members that want to be on these visiting teams!

Our MNFTM group also takes care of the foyer tract racks. As Bible Correspondence Courses are requested, members assist with sending and grading responses.

Come anytime you are available on a Monday night to participate!

Ninety-Nine for One

99For1logo webThe congregation at Buford is a close-knit community of believers. However, it is also a quickly growing body. 99-For-1 is a tool for the congregation to keep track of and encourage all of its members. Through cards, calls and social media, the 99-For-1 team strives to ensure that each member feels encouraged and aware of his or her important place in our body.

Contact this ministries leader if you would like to support this ministry.
