BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 8
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 8 Day 8 was a full day in Edinburgh, Scotland’s Capital city. We started at 9am to allow us time to recoup a bit from our spectacular Friday in the Highlands and Inverness area. We arrived in Edinburgh around 10:30 and all went in their different ways as groups to enjoy the city and Royal Mile shops, cafes, tartan hunting, climb mountains, looking for the queen who was in town at Holyrood, run from the Edinburgh…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 7
BYG Scotland Mission trip Day 7 Greetings to you somewhere in the Highlands as we drive back from Inverness to Perth. We had a great postcard Scotland day with cooler temps, plenty of sun and blue skies. We started the day at 8am ready to spend a full day together taking in what northern Scotland has to offer from castles, Lochs, Bens (mountains), Glens (valleys) and quaint cities. The morning consisted of Due to our schedule being slightly behind…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 6
BYG Scotland Mission trip Day 6 Thursday was another good day for us in Perth with blue skies but with a cool breeze most of the day, so was a little more bearable while inside the buildings. We all got to sleep until 9:30am as our morning activity was meeting the youth club kids and their mums for a BBQ at a city park. The team met at Quarrymill Park for the BBQ around 10:30am and Scott brought 12 youth…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 5
BYG Scotland Mission Trip – Day 5 Happy 4th of July from Scotland (a day later)! The day was great and God provided record temps again to help us from USA feel right at home…in low 80s, full sun and no wind. It’s quite interesting we are celebrating our independence ?? from Great Britain ?? while here and many older folk consider it treason day. And I have been asked a few times from some older gentlemen here how the…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 4
BYG Scotland Mission Trip – Day 4 Tuesday was another sunny, blue skies and unseasonably warm day for us in Perth. We started the day off meeting Susan from the Rangers of Perth Council Community Greenspace department to clear a path on St Magdalene Hill. The team worked hard to cut back blackberry, raspberry and brownberry bushes plus other weeds to widen a section of a path used by many in the area. Unlike last year where a team dodged…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 3
BYG Mission Trip Day 3 Day 3 started off working at the Perth City Council food bank moving cereals, pasta sauces, canned goods and disposing of expired products donated. The director of the food bank was yet again impressed with our work ethic, how much we got done and very appreciative for our help. He remembered us from last year and was so excited to hear we were coming. Scott volunteers here weekly and has built a great relationship with…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day 2
Greetings from another cloudless, blue sky and sunny day in Perth! It got up to 75 degrees today and all the Scottish we mumbling about how hot it was and they were truly melting. I guess it is the equivalent of us having 100 degree temps and high humidity. Their normal highs this time of year are 65 with clouds and rain, plus none of the buildings have air conditions or moving air, so an open window is all you…
BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day1.5
Greetings from Perth Scotland, we made it!!! On Friday June 29th, ten BCOC missionaries left the building at 5:30pm to Atlanta airport. After checking in and going through security, all searched out a great last USA dinner as we waited for our flight to leave at 10:15pm. After our dinners we boarded and settled in for a 9 hour flight to London. Many watched movies while others read and others slept off and on (best you can sitting up right),…
