ABOUT OUR JAIL/prison MINISTRY
The Buford Jail Ministry began in 2016 with a group of men teaching weekly classes at the Gwinnett County Jail. In addition to these classes, inmates were also given hand-out materials, Bibles and reading glasses. Some members chose to help with mailings, Bible Correspondence courses and benevolence. In 2017, our ladies began teaching weekly classes at the jail as well as writing and encouraging the female inmates.
As inmates began being transferred from jail to prison to serve out their sentences, the ministry began to change. The ministry now, mainly consists of mailing Bible Correspondence Courses, Old and New Testament series lessons, and various other spiritual lessons and literature. Inmates are still given Bibles which has now launched our Pink Bible Fund for female inmates. Inmates then share what they have been learning and refer others to begin receiving the lessons.
Hundreds of inmates have been reached through this effort with several being baptized and even voluntarily teaching their fellow inmates. In person Bible studies will resume as the Jail Leadership allows.
