ABOUT CHESTNUT DR IGLESIA DE CRISTO
The Iglesia de Cristo is a Spanish congregation that first opened its doors to the Hispanic population in Buford, and surrounding towns in 2008, by Juan and Elvira Garcia. The Garcia family came over from Chestnut Dr. Iglesia de Cristo in Doraville (2005-2008). In 2022, an opportunity arose to take over the building and all the missionary responsibilities of the Great Commission (Mathew 28:19-20) back in Doraville. February 27, 2022 was the first Sunday meeting back there. In 2023, Juan Garcia went on to meet his reward in Heaven. Rapael Uzcategui is now the current Pulpit Minister at Chestnut Dr. Iglesia de Cristo.
Since then, the congregation has grown into a 68 in attendance. Their membership includes brethren from the U.S.A., Mexico, Guatemala, San Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Venezuela. The variety of cultures have enriched the congregation. Since opening, they have been able to train and prepare men to do several leadership roles, provide Bible classes for different age groups, and regular bi-weekly preaching to the brethren. Their mission is to be self-independent with the Biblical leadership that Christ requires and all working toward the goal of growth and matureness (Ephesians 4:11-16).
Chestnut Dr. understands that they are only God’s collaborators and His servants, trying to do His will. This has brought about a confidence and dependence upon God, that not only His will be done, but that He will help them achieve His goals. So, Chestnut Dr. Iglesia de Cristo sincerely thanks the Buford Church of Christ for helping reach this point in their lives, and kindly asks for continued prayers for success and continued help through financial support. This partnership has blessed many souls and they are grateful as well, for they were lost but thanks to what God did through Buford’s support, they have found Christ.
