The God Who Sees Potential

In Genesis 16:13, Hagar referred to God as El-Roi, which means “the God-Who-Sees.” Her title for God is appropriate since Scripture is filled with references to God’s omniscient vision. In 1 Samuel 16:7 when Samuel was sent to anoint Saul’s successor as king, God indicated that He “sees not as man sees” because He “looks on the heart.” In Hebrews 4:13 we are told that “no creature is hidden from [God’s] sight, but all are naked and exposed to the…
