The Beatitudes are typically associated with the nine statements of blessing that appear in Matthew 5:2-12; however, these are not the only “blessed” statements attributed to Jesus. In Acts 20:35, Paul quoted Jesus as saying, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Although this statement is not recorded in the Gospels, it does succinctly summarize the attitude of Jesus in regards to wealth in the kingdom of heaven.
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
