As Jesus prepared to teach His disciples how to pray He instructed them to not be like the “heathens” who “use vain repetitions” and want to “be heard for their many words” because “your father knows what you need before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:7-8). Later in the same chapter Jesus instructed us to “not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’…For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things” (Matthew 6:31-32). From Jesus’ instructions we learn that God is aware of and concerned about our needs because He is the God who sees our needs.
