ADULTS – SOUL FOOD

ADULTS – SOUL FOOD

ADULT – SOUL FOOD

THE PURPOSE

Soul Food is a three-year adult Bible class ministry for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. God’s Word is powerful enough to make us complete and equipped for every good work. Soul Food is intentionally designed to feed our souls with the Word of God. Dedicating ourselves to the milk, manna, meat, and morsels of Scripture will produce generations of faithful men and women of God who practice their faith in everyday life.

PROVISIONS

If we want to be adequately fed spiritually, we must consume all God’s Word has to offer. Because the Bible is living and active, it continually applies to everyone regardless of age or maturity level. However, that does not mean everyone can readily comprehend or understand the weightier portions of Scripture. Soul Food feeds babes in Christ, seasoned brethren, and everyone in between so that we may all grow in our love and knowledge of the Lord together at a level we each understand. (1 Corinthians 3:2, 1 Peter 2:2-3, Hebrews 5:12-14)

MILK— Sunday morning classes intended to nourish those searching for the truth, new converts, or babes in Christ. Teachers will present the Word in a manner participants can easily receive and understand.

MANNA—Sunday morning classes intended to nourish faithful men and women seeking to deepen their understanding of God’s Word. Teachers will present the Word in a manner that the majority of the congregation can receive and understand.

MEAT— Sunday morning classes intended to nourish seasoned Christians. Teachers will present the Word in an in-depth manner that helps even the most knowledgeable Christian grow in understanding.

MORSELS—Wednesday night classes intended to nourish all participants with practical application in their daily life. Teachers will present the Word in a manner that makes it matter in the participant’s life.

PATHWAYS

On Sunday mornings, all participants are on the same pathway of journeying from milk to meat. Classes are chosen based on the depth of the study and the participants’ desire (milk, manna, meat). These classes have a predominantly textual emphasis.

On Wednesday Nights, all participants are free to choose which pathway applies most to their life at that time. Classes are chosen based on the participants’ spiritual interests (morsels). These classes have a predominantly practical emphasis based in Scripture.

PARAMETERS

  • Soul Food intentionally seeks to provide a full and comprehensive consumption of the whole counsel of God.
  • Soul Food is for anyone in college and older.
  • Our Shepherds have carefully and thoughtfully selected the courses, teachers, and objectives for all classes.
  • Everyone is free to choose whatever pathway best suits their spiritual needs. When it comes to Milk, Manna, Meat, and Morsels—it is ultimately up to the participant to decide where they belong and what they need. Having the freedom to return to the milk of the fundamentals is important even for the most seasoned participants.
